After a long, painful recovery, a former professor who was beaten by Hindu radicals is finally improving. Dr. Anjaneya Swami was hospitalized with a brain hemorrhage in 2017 following an attack and subsequent police interrogation. The evangelist had been distributing gospel tracts near a Hindu temple when Hindu nationalists attacked him, accusing him of trying to convert people to Christianity.
For most of the next 18 months, he remained paralyzed on his right side and unable to speak. A VOM worker who visited him in May wrote that Dr. Swami can now stand, respond to people, read the Bible and sing songs. Following his early retirement several years ago, the former professor committed to distributing 50 New Testaments a day, a commitment he had upheld until the attack. Pray for Dr. Anjaneya’s continued recovery.
