50 Years Since Seeds for the Gospel Were Planted

In October 1969, American missionaries Mark and Gladys Bliss and their children were traveling to visit believers in northern Iran when their car collided with another vehicle. All three of their children were killed along with the baby son of Haik and Takoush Hovsepian, who were traveling with them. The response of Mark and Gladys to their devastating loss, however, had a profound impact upon the Iranian church, for they famously prayed a heart-wrenching prayer: “Lord, we plant three seeds for the sake of the Gospel in Iran.” Mark and Gladys stayed on in Iran to preach the gospel until the Islamic regime changed in 1979. Mark passed away in 2017, but his widow Gladys survives. Pray for Gladys as she remembers the date when she lost her children, and pray for the Iranian believers carrying out their legacy today in Iran.
